            Lak012 - Birdsong Cabin
This beautiful log cabin has excellent amenities and a pretty location by Poikkijärvi Lake. The cabin has a large open plan living and dining area, kitchen, sauna, shower, wood burning fireplace, spacious terrace with lake views, 2 WCs, one twin/double bedroom and a second twin/double bedroom with one extra bed. One additional person can be accommodated on a sofa bed in lounge.  

The cabin is spacious and offers plenty of comfort for a couple or a family. A set of chairs and a table outside provide an ideal spot for outdoor dining.  

The area is beautiful and very peaceful. Go swimming, make a leisurely trip on your rowing boat, walk on country lanes or pick wild berries and mushrooms in the woodland surrounding the cabin in autumn. Bicycles can be hired from the owners and there are fishing rods at the cabin. In winter, try ice-fishing or head to the ski slopes in the popular Himos Ski Resort.

Cabin amenities:
Wood burning sauna, shower, 2 WCs, washing machine, fireplace and logs, microwave, electric oven and hobs, TV, radio/CD player, long private pier, garden swing, electric heating, dishwasher, coffee maker, rowing boat, terrace with lake views, hoover,  toaster, iron/ironing board, fridge/freezer, car heating point, drying cupboard for wet ski suits, garden furniture and a barbeque. Baby bed will be available by prior arrangement. 

Pets and smoking are not allowed. Bed linen and towels can be hired for €12 per person and final clean in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for €85.

Location:
The cabin is located in Kuhmoinen, 90km from Tampere Airport and 40km from Jämsä. The centre of Kuhmoinen village is just 4km away and this is where you will find all necessary local amenities including supermarkets, a restaurant, bank, cash point, pharmacy, petrol station and an off-licence.

The cabin is located just 30m from the shallow lake shore, that is ideal for swimming for all ages. Take care however when descending a gentle slope down to the lake, if you have limited mobility. The nearest neighbour is located 90m away.    

Popular Himos Ski Resort 45km away has 21 ski slopes for downhill skiing, 13 ski lifts, a super pipe and a street for snowboarding, 23km of cross-country skiing tracks, a slope for moguls, tobogganing hills and snowmobile safaris. There is a ski hire shop, ski school, hill top cafe, two bars and three restaurants and children under 7 years old ski for free if they wear a helmet!

For a day trip, or a short break before or after your cabin holiday, visit Tampere and its popular Särkänniemi Adventure Park. Children will love the rides, dolphinarium, aquarium, planetarium, zoo and the very high observation tower. 

The curious Moominvalley Museum in the centre of the city offers Moomin books, illustrations, figurines and computer enabled virtual tours of the famous Moomin House.

Isojärvi National Park is also well worth a visit if you are interested in nature and walking. The park is located just 20km away and consists of peaceful lakes, dense woods and 20 small islands. Make your way to the park by bike, foot or canoe!

Fly low-cost on Ryanair from London Stansted, Dublin or Frankfurt to Tampere (90km from cabin). Pick up a hire car at the airport.

Fly low-cost on Blue1 from London Heathrow, Dublin, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Rome, Berlin, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens, Oslo, Nice or Paris to Helsinki (180km). Pick up a hire car at the airport.

Fly on Finnair or BA from London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh or Dublin to Helsinki. Pick up a hire car at the airport.
