The rental price includes 3 bicycles and a fishing cage, while fishing permits can also be pre-arranged for a small charge. Catering services are available by prior arrangement. Cabin
amenities: The cabin includes a second wood burning lakeside sauna, that also has a separate living area with a fireplace, stove and crockery for relaxing after sauna. This sauna is shared with the cabin next door and it is customary for the two parties to use the sauna on alternate days. Pets are allowed, but smoking is not. Bed linen and towels can be hired for €10 per person. Final clean in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for €55. Location:
The magnificent Koli National Park on the opposite side of Lake Pielinen famously inspired the well know Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. Reach the park by driving around the lake or taking a car ferry straight across in summer. In winter, you can also use the safe 'Ice Road' and drive across the frozen lake! Visit Akka-Koli Hill to view the far reaching dense woods and Ukko-Koli Hill to admire the most breathtakingly beautiful view over the Lakeland Archipelago with its blue lakes and green tree-covered islands. Koli Ski Resort has excellent cross-country skiing tracks, 5 downhill ski slopes and a Snow Park for snowboarding and tobogganing. All ski equipment can be rented from the resort's own rental shop and the resort cafe serves snacks and hot drinks. Visit the former house and workshop of Eeva Ryynänen, one of Finland's most unique sculptors. Marvel at the extraordinary wood carvings that feature Finnish wildlife such as bears and owls and visit the wooden church (that she helped to build at the age of 74!), filled with examples of her skill and vivid imagination. Ruunaa Nature Area just 40km away provides thrilling white-water rafting, canoeing and trekking, while children will love the Pikku Kili (Small Kiddy) Animal Park. Joensuu 80km away provides an excellent day trip destination with its beautiful harbour, restaurants, cafes and shopping opportunities. How
do I get there?
Fly low-cost on Blue1 from London Heathrow, Dublin, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Nice, Rome, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, Barcelona, Paris Madrid, Athens or Oslo to Kuopio (160km) via Helsinki. Pick up a hire car at the airport. |
