OUR OPINION

Cosy cabin ideal
for a couple or a small family in a wonderfully secluded lakeside setting. Beautiful lake views and sunsets can be admired from the cabin in any season, while leisurely outdoor activities are also available for those who wish to explore the area by foot, bike or canoe. Ideal choice for
romantic getaways.

          Lak036 - Moose Cape Cabin
This co
sy cabin has the most fantastic location on a rocky outcrop overlooking Pettämä Lake. The cabin has a kitchen, dining room, lounge with a wood burning fireplace, sauna, shower room, one twin/double bedroom and one triple bedroom. The spacious living area upstairs has additional beds for two people, while four sofa beds also sleep seven people if required.

Two outdoor terraces have garden furniture and offer magnificent lake views, while you will find a rowing boat with lifejackets, garden swing, wooden pier and a barbecue area on the private grounds.

The tranquil surrounds are ideal for walking, fishing and cross-country skiing. Bicycles, canoes and fishing equipment can be hired from the cabin owner (please pre-book!) and tobogganing hills with sledges are available for children in winter. Snowmobile safaris and dog sleigh rides are also organised in the area.

Cabin amenities:
Wood burning sauna, shower, WC, fireplace and logs, microwave, dishwasher, electric oven and hobs, 2 TVs, DVD player, radio/CD player, electric heating, coffee maker, hoover, fridge/freezer, toaster, hairdryer, car heating point and rowing boat outdoors, highchair and a play area for children. A baby bed will be available by prior booking.

Water from the taps comes from the lake and is not suitable for drinking, but drinking/cooking water is provided by the owner and 10 litres will be available on your arrival. More water can be collected at anytime from a water post 300m away.

Pets and smoking are not allowed. Bed linen and towels can be rented for £10 per person. Final cleaning in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for £50.

Location:
The cabin is located in Koskenpää, 75km from Jyväskylä Airport and 30km from Jämsä town. Local amenities including a supermarket are available just 4km away. The cabin includes 400m of private lake shore and a small beach where children can splash about. The cabin is in a very secluded position and the nearest neighbour is 250m away.

The area is ideal for canoeing and the famous "Wanha Witonen" canoeing route passes by closeby. Canoeing expeditions can be organised on a tailor-made basis (please pre-book!).

A UNESCO heritage listed wooden church, built in 1764, can be visited in Petäjävesi 22km away.

Jyväskylä 70km away has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as a pretty harbour, from where you can take a cruise on Lake Päijänne, the longest and the deepest lake in Finland. Look out for buildings designed by Alvar Aalto, the famous Finnish architect and a former resident in the town.

Isojärvi National Park nearby consists of silent forests, narrow lakes, rocky shores and over 20 small islands where water birds and Canadian beavers can be spotted. The park has a total of 30km of signposted hiking trails, while cycling, swimming, canoeing, fishing, cross-country skiing and picking wild berries and mushrooms are also possible.

Popular Himos Ski Resort 36km away has 21 ski slopes for downhill skiing, 13 ski lifts, a super pipe and a street for snowboarding, 23km of cross-country skiing tracks, a slope for moguls, tobogganing hills and snowmobile safaris. There is a ski hire shop, ski school, hill top cafe, two bars and three restaurants and children under 7 years old ski for free if they wear a helmet!
