This handsome lakeside cabin near Koli National Park has very good amenities and can accommodate up to 9 adults and three children. The ground floor has an open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge, double bedroom, sauna, shower, lake facing terrace ideal for al fresco dining and a wood burning soapstone fireplace, which can be used for both heating and cooking. A sofa bed can accommodate two people. 

The first floor consists of a double bedroom with a small sleeping alcove for a child and an open plan living/sleeping area with a table and chairs, double bed, single bed, child's bed and a lovely balcony, that overlooks the lake just 50m away. 

Tranquil countryside surrounds offer many opportunities for outdoor activities such as fishing, picking wild berries and mushrooms, horse-riding, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, sledging, swimming, ice-swimming and walking. 

Make a trip on your rowing boat to a deserted island or enjoy a round of golf on an 18-hole course just 28km away. Hire a snowmobile from the cabin owners for rides on the frozen lake or hire bicycles or mountain bikes in the nearby Koli village. In winter, cross-country skiing tracks start directly from the cabin, while a cross-country ski Stadium is also located nearby. 

Cabin amenities:
Electric sauna with shower and changing rooms, WC, washing machine, fireplace and logs, toaster, microwave, electric oven and hobs, TV, radio, electric heating, dishwasher, coffee maker, terrace and balcony with lake views, central hoover system, iron/ironing board, fridge/freezer and a car heating point. A baby bed and a high chair can be arranged by prior booking.

A badminton/volleyball net, garden swing, private pier with wooden seats, rowing boat, log store, Wendy house for children, an outdoor barbecue and a traditional wood burning lakeside sauna are provided on the cabin grounds. 

Pets and smoking are not allowed. Bed linen can be rented for £10 per person. Final cleaning in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for £39. 

Location:
The cabin is located in Kontiolahti, 48km from Joensuu Airport. A car pick up and drop off service is available for €60 (one-way, maximum 4 passengers), if you do not wish to rent a car. 

A local food shop is available within a short driving distance, though a mobile food shop also stops nearby just 2km away every Monday and Thursday. The owner is happy to provide a shopping trip to the local supermarket for €25. The cabin is located on the sunniest side of the large Lake Höytiänen and the shallow lake shore is ideal for swimming for all ages. The nearest neighbour is another cabin 50m away.

The magnificent Koli National Park just 30km away famously inspired the well know Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. Walk to the Akka-Koli Hill to admire the far reaching dense green woods and then continue to the Ukko-Koli Hill for the most breathtakingly beautiful views over the Lakeland Archipelago with its blue lakes and green tree-covered islands. Do not forget to bring your camera! 

Koli Ski Resort in the National Park has excellent cross-country skiing tracks, 5 downhill ski slopes and a Snow Park for snowboarding and tobogganing. All ski equipment can be rented from the resort's own rental shop and the resort cafe serves snacks and hot drinks.

Joensuu 40km away provides an excellent day trip destination with its beautiful harbour, department stores, restaurants and street cafes. Enjoy a drink in Bar Boat Elina that docks in the harbour every summer and visit one of the museums or exhibitions that feature mostly Finnish art and photography. The cabin owner is happy to take you to Joensuu and back for €50 (one-way).

How do I get there? 
Fly on Finnair from London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh or Dublin to Joensuu (48km from cabin) via Helsinki. Pick up a hire car at the airport or use the car pick-up service provided by the cabin owners.

Fly low-cost on Blue1 from London Heathrow, Dublin,  Rome, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Nice, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, Barcelona, Paris, Madrid, Athens or Oslo to Kuopio (150km) via Helsinki. Pick up a hire car at the airport.
