OUR OPINION

This log cabin has basic amenities and olden style traditional decor. The wonderful tranquil lakeside location with beautiful views over the lake is fantastic particularly in summer. Recommended particularly for all those interested in nature and outdoor activities in tranquil surrounds.

    Lak063 -Fisherman's Hideaway
This pretty log cabin in a very peaceful and naturally beautiful lakeside location is ideal for a couple, but can sleep up to 6 people. The cabin has an open plan kitchenette, dining and sitting area, sauna, shower, wood burning fireplace, terrace with lake views, private pier and one bedroom for two. Additional four beds are available in a sleeping alcove and on a sofa bed in the sitting area. The cabin has homely decor and lovely lake views over the lake just 30m away.

The peaceful Lakeland environment offers fantastic opportunities for outdoor activities such as swimming, fishing, canoeing, picking wild berries and mushrooms, rowing a boat, walking and cycling. Local suppliers hire canoes, bicycles and snowmobiles including thermal clothing and tuition. (Please pre-book all equipment!) Snowmobile safaris are also organised.

Catering services are available by special arrangement.

Cabin amenities:
Wood burning sauna, WC, hand-held shower attachment in the sauna,
fireplace and logs, microwave, electric oven and hobs, TV, private pier, electric heating, coffee maker, rowing boat, terrace, hoover, fridge and a car heating point. The garden has a mini barbeque, place for a campfire and garden furniture including a table and chairs. A baby bed and a high chair can be arranged by prior booking.

Pets are allowed, but smoking is not. Bed linen and towels can be rented for £10 per person. Final cleaning in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for £48.

Location:
The cabin is located in the small village of Naarajärvi, 20km from Pieksämäki and 90km from Jyväskylä Airport. Local amenities such as a food shop and a petrol station can be found 14km away. The cabin is located just 30m from the shallow lake shore, that is ideal for swimming for all ages, while the nearest neighbour is another cabin 100m away. The cabins are separated by trees, while both also face away from each other to allow you maximum privacy.

Jyväskylä 90km away provides an ideal day trip destination. The town has a wide variety shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as a pretty harbour, from where you can take a cruise on Lake Päijänne, the longest and the deepest lake in Finland. If you are interested in architecture, look out for the work designed by Alvar Aalto, the famous Finnish architect and a former resident in the town.

Kuopio 115km away is another lively town with a wide variety of shops, restaurants and museums to visit on a day trip. In summer, sightseeing tours around the town can be taken on a boat, fun-train, double-decker bus or a horse and carriage. Make sure you visit the 75m high Puijo Tower, from where you can admire one of the best views in the Lakeland region while dining in an A la Carte restaurant or a more informal cafe, both of which go round 360 degrees in an hour.

Visulahti Activity Park in Mikkeli 95km away is popular with children of all ages. Meet dinosaurs, visit wax works, slide down waterslides in the water park, play mini golf, drive pedal cars and quad-bikes or try any other activity imaginable!

The nearest ski resort Häkärinteet is located 45km away and offers good facilities for cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, tobogganing and snowboarding during the winter months. All ski equipment can be rented from the resort's own rental shop, but if skiing is not your cup of tea, hike to the top of the slopes for beautiful views over the region.
