This large log cabin in the heart of the Lakeland countryside is on two spacious levels. The ground floor comprises an open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge, utility room, one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, large shower room and a sauna with both a wood burning and an electric stove and a ceiling with star-like lights.

The first floor comprises two twin bedrooms, children's play area and a small seating area with a TV. Two mattresses and two camping beds are available for additional four people if required.

The cabin has a spacious terrace, that includes a wooden table, comfortable padded chairs and a mini barbecue. Large gardens include a sandpit and swings for children, while the lake shore has a badminton court, traditional Finnish style barbeque hut ideal for al fresco dining and a second wood burning lakeside sauna. The log sauna building also features a separate living area with a fireplace for relaxing after sauna.  

The cabin owners rent a canoe, bicycles, fishing equipment, snowmobiles, snowshoes and a motor boat (please pre-book!). In winter, tobogganing hills, cross-country skiing tracks and snowmobile safaris are also available.

Cabin amenities:
Wood burning and electric sauna, shower room, 2 WCs, washing machine, microwave, electric oven and hobs, wood burning soapstone oven/fireplace and logs, satellite TV, small second TV, broadband internet connection for a laptop computer, video/DVD player, radio, CD player, long private pier, dishwasher, garden swing, electric heating, coffee maker, kettle, rowing boat, large terrace, hoover, iron/ironing board, fridge/freezer, toaster, drying cupboard for wet ski suits, car heating point, baby cot, highchair, children's toys and a child safety gate in stairs. 

Water from taps in this cabin is not recommended for drinking, but bottled water can be easily bought at all supermarkets.

Well-behaved pets are allowed, but smoking is not. Bed linen and towels can be hired for €12 per person. Final clean in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for €120, except during the New Year weeks 1 and 2 for €170.

Location:
The cabin is located 18km from Suonenjoki, where you will find all local amenities, and 60km from Kuopio Airport. The cabin is located just 80m from the shallow lake shore, that is ideal for swimming for all ages, while the nearest neighbour is another cabin 250m away. The owners of the cabin also live nearby on a farm just 250m away, should you need any assistance.            

Kuopio 48km away is a lively town with a wide variety of shops, restaurants and museums to visit on a day trip. Make sure you visit the 75m high Puijo Tower, from where you can admire one of the best views in the Lakeland region while dining in an A la Carte restaurant or a more informal cafe, both of which go round 360 degrees in an hour.     

Children will love the Vehmasmäki Animal Farm (open spring-autumn) just 25km away, where there are a number of cute and cuddly farm animals and pets to see. Horse-riding on Islandic horses is available about 28km away, while the cabin owners also have Highland cows and a cat, that welcome visitors! 

Fishermen will be well catered for in the area and excellent salmon fishing is available in Suonenjoki and Nokisenkoski 28km away. Please note, that if you will be using anything else than just a fishing rod and a line to catch the fish, you will need a local fishing permit.  

Kids and water enthusiasts will enjoy the Vesileppis Indoor Water Park (32km), that offers a variety of different swimming pools, water slides, saunas and an air temperature of pleasant +32C degrees. Kymppi Areena, an underground indoor cross-country skiing stadium next door, offers snowy skiing tracks and hills all year-round.

Rämäkkä Ski Resort just 35km away is ideal for beginners and families. The resort has 4 gentle ski slopes for downhill skiing, a snow park for snowboarding, ski equipment rental shop and a cafe. Please note that the resort is open wed-sun only. Antikkala Ski Resort 55km away and Kasurila Ski Resort 70km away are larger resorts and open daily. All ski equipment can be rented in the resorts, while ski schools also operate in both.

How do I get there?
Fly on Finnair from London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh or Dublin to Kuopio (60km from cabin) via Helsinki. Pick up a hire car at the airport.

Fly low-cost on Ryanair from London Stansted, Liverpool, Dublin or Frankfurt to Tampere (240km). Pick up a hire car at the airport.

Fly low-cost on Blue1 from London Heathrow, Dublin,  Rome, Copenhagen, Athens, Amsterdam, Berlin, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Barcelona, Madrid, Oslo, Nice, Paris or Warsaw to Helsinki (350km) or Kuopio via Helsinki. Pick up a hire car at the airport.

If you will be arriving by train, the cabin owners can collect you for a small charge from Suonenjoki Railway Station by prior arrangement.
