This pretty hand-carved log cabin is located on an island, but you can drive all the way to the cabin on a narrow road rising out of the lake. The cabin has an open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge, wood burning fireplace, private pier, terrace, balcony, lakeside sauna with a shower, an outdoor barbecue shelter, one twin bedroom, one single bedroom and three mattresses in a mezzanine upstairs. 

The cabin is located on an island in a tranquil location 600m from the nearest neighbour, so the cabin offers complete privacy for your party. In summer, the area is perfect for swimming, rowing and cycling, while horse-riding is available in the stables 4km away. Bicycles, canoes (2) and a motor boat can be hired from the owners. 

In winter, cross-country skiing tracks (15km) pass the cabin just 50m away and skis can be hired from the owners (please pre-book!). Snowboarding, downhill skiing and snowmobile safaris are available in nearby Häkärinteet Ski Resort.  

Cabin amenities:
WC, fireplace and logs, microwave, electric oven and hobs, TV, video recorder, radio, CD player, private pier, garden swing, electric heating, coffee maker, rowing boat, terrace, balcony, hoover, car heating point, fridge/freezer and an outdoor barbecue hut. A baby bed will be available by prior arrangement. 

Shower in wood burning lakeside sauna which also includes a separate living area where you will find a fireplace. Enjoy hot sauna and cooling dips into the lake just a few metres away in summer and then enjoy the glowing fire with a cold drink or two. 

Pets are allowed, but smoking is not. Bed linen and towels can be hired for €10 per person. Final clean in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for €60.      

Location:
The cabin is located in Säkinmäki, 75km from Jyväskylä Airport and 5km from the Säkinmäki village. All local amenities, including a food shop, petrol station, restaurant and a bank, are available nearby a short drive away. The cabin is located 35m from a shallow lake shore, that is ideal for swimming for all ages, while the nearest neighbour is located 600m away, which allows you total privacy in your own island hideaway.

Häkärinteet Ski Resort 20km away has 12 ski slopes for downhill skiing, 3.8km of cross-country skiing tracks, a hiking trail to the top of the ski slopes and tobogganing hills for children. There is a ski hire shop, ski school, cafe and a popular sun terrace for drinks.   

If golf is more your cup of tea, visit Revontuli Golf Course just 26km from the cabin. In addition to 18-holes, the Golf Club also has a good quality restaurant where live Finnish music is played at weekends.   

Jyväskylä 68km away provides an ideal day trip destination. The town has a wide variety shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as a pretty harbour from where you can take a cruise on Lake Päijänne, the longest and the deepest lake in Finland. Look out for buildings designed by Alvar Aalto, the famous Finnish architect and a former resident in the town.

Fly on Finnair from London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh or Dublin to Jyväskylä (70km from cabin) via Helsinki. Pick up a hire car at the airport. 

Fly low-cost on Ryanair from London Stansted, Liverpool, Dublin or Frankfurt to Tampere (200km). Pick up a hire car at the airport.

Fly low-cost on Blue1 from London Heathrow, Dublin,  Rome, Copenhagen, Athens, Amsterdam, Gothenburg, Berlin, Hamburg, Barcelona, Madrid, Oslo, Nice or Paris to Kuopio (100km) or Helsinki (330km). Pick up a hire car at the airport.
