Swan's Lodge The first floor comprises an open plan living and sleeping area with a double bed, single bed, sofa bed for two, cot, highchair, second TV and a wardrobe. A large balcony, where you will find a table and two comfortable chairs, can be accessed from the first floor. The balcony offers beautiful sunsets and views over the lake, where a variety of different types of birds, including swans, can often be seen. The cabin also has a spacious terrace, where you can enjoy views over the lake, while the gardens include a picnic table and chairs, barbeque area, garden swing, private pier and a rowing boat. The cabin owners rent a canoe, bicycles, fishing equipment, snowmobiles, snowshoes and a motor boat (please pre-book!). In winter, tobogganing hills, cross-country skiing tracks and snowmobile safaris are also available. Cabin
amenities: The cabin also includes a traditional lakeside wood burning sauna, that allows you to enjoy the hot sauna and cooling dips in the lake in turns for a truly relaxing feeling. The seats in the sauna offer lake views, so you can even enjoy the relaxing steam and the beautiful lake view at the same time! Water from taps in this cabin is not suitable for drinking, but bottled water can be easily bought at all supermarkets. Well-behaved pets are allowed, but smoking is not. Bed linen and towels can be hired for €12 per person. Final clean in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for €80, except during the New Year weeks 1 and 2 for €100. Location: Kuopio 48km away is a lively town with a wide variety of shops, restaurants and museums to visit on a day trip. Make sure you visit the 75m high Puijo Tower, from where you can admire one of the best views in the Lakeland region while dining in an A la Carte restaurant or a more informal cafe, both of which go round 360 degrees in an hour. Children will love the Vehmasmäki Animal Farm (open spring-autumn) just 25km away, where there are a number of cute and cuddly farm animals and pets to see. Horse-riding on Islandic horses is available about 28km away, while the cabin owners also have Highland cows and a cat, that welcome visitors! Fishermen will be well catered for in the area and excellent salmon fishing is available in Suonenjoki and Nokisenkoski 28km away. Please note, that if you will be using anything else than just a fishing rod and a line to catch the fish, you will need a local fishing permit. Kids and water enthusiasts will enjoy the Vesileppis Indoor Water Park (32km), that offers a variety of different swimming pools, water slides, saunas and an air temperature of pleasant +32C degrees. Kymppi Areena, an underground indoor cross-country skiing stadium next door, offers snowy skiing tracks and hills all year-round. Rämäkkä Ski Resort just 35km away is ideal for beginners and families. The resort has 4 gentle ski slopes for downhill skiing, a snow park for snowboarding, ski equipment rental shop and a cafe. Please note the resort is open wed-sun only. Antikkala Ski Resort 55km away and Kasurila Ski Resort 70km away are larger resorts and open daily. do I get there? Fly low-cost on Blue1 from London Heathrow, Dublin, Rome, Copenhagen, Athens, Amsterdam, Berlin, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Barcelona, Madrid, Oslo, Nice, Paris or Warsaw to Helsinki (350km) or Kuopio via Helsinki. Pick up a hire car at the airport. If you will be arriving by train, the cabin owners can collect you for a small charge from Suonenjoki Railway Station by prior arrangement. |
