                         Lak080 - Iitu
A cosy lakeside cabin for up to 6 people in a quiet loca
tion with fantastic views of Lake Saimaa, the largest lake in Finland. The cabin has excellent amenities and all mod cons you could ask for, while the decor and furniture are distinctly Scandinavian in style and colours.

The cabin has an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, wood burning fireplace, private pier, sauna, shower room, two terraces and two twin/double bedrooms. Two extra beds are provided on a sofa bed in lounge if required.

Iitu's sister property Ainu (Lak079) is located nearby and the two cabins together could accommodate a larger party of up to 12 members.

The cabin surrounds are peaceful and nature trails and cross-country ski tracks can be accessed nearby. In winter, tobogganing is possible at the cabin and in late summer and autumn, wild berries and mushrooms can be picked in the woods.

Fishing is popular all year round and a fishing rod, cage and a fishing permit are included in the rental price. Canoes can be hired with lifejackets and maps of the canoeing routes in the area (please pre-book!).

Local suppliers offer ice-fishing, quad bike safaris, snowmobiling and rally driving, but if you have your own idea of what you want to do, tailor-made activities are also possible. Catering services are available by prior arrangement.

Cabin amenities:
Wood burning sauna, shower, WC, washing machine, high quality dishes, fireplace and logs, microwave, electric oven and hobs, TV with Canal Digital Family Pack that allows you to view a number of additional channels, DVD player, radio, private pier, under floor heating, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, rowing boat, two terraces, hoover, toaster, iron/ironing board, fridge/freezer
, car heating point, fold-away baby bed and wireless internet access for additional charge of 10 euros/week .

A unique, romantic outdoor hot tub allows you to relax admiring the lake view during the day or a starry night sky in the evening, while you enjoy the hot water with your loved one!

Pets are allowed, but smoking is not. Bed linen and towels can be hired for €12 per person. Final clean in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for €120.

Location:
The cabin is located in Ihamaniemi, 45km from Savonlinna Airport and 25km from the village of Enonkoski. A car pick up and drop off service from/to Savonlinna Airport is available by prior booking for additional charge. The nearest neighbour is located 60m away, while the shallow lake shore is just 25m away.

Savonlinna with its cultural interests provides an ideal day trip destination 58km away. Visit the handsome medieval Olavinlinna Castle, where guided tours are given daily in different languages, including English. The castle is positioned on a small island and you walk in along a long pier, that is periodically opened for passing cruise ships. The castle is open all year apart from public holidays and 15-25 December.

Kolovesi National Park is 23km² area of lakes, woods and rock walls reaching as high as 40m. The park was formed during the last ice age and you can still spot signs of life from the stone ages. The park today is inhabited by endangered Saimaa seals, trekkers and canoeists and you can reach the park from the cabin by canoe (8km) or in a car (17km).

Punkaharju Ridge, famous for its extraordinary landscape comprising a myriad of islands and lakes, is located 70km away. Drive leisurely through the narrow roads surrounded by water for a truly beautiful lakeland scenery.

Those interested in religion will want to visit the fascinating Valamo Monastery in Heinävesi 85km away, as well as the smaller monastery community in the Ihamaniemi village, just 6km away. The nearby Kerimäki village (50km) has the world's largest wooden church, while if skiing is more your cup of tea, visit the small Pääskyvuori Ski Resort 32km away. The resort has 4 easy ski slopes for downhill skiing and snowboarding and all equipment can be rented from the resort's own rental shop.
