- Strawberry Fields Forever The cabin has an open plan dining and lounge setting that includes a wood burning stove, a separate kitchen, double bedroom downstairs, mezzanine upstairs with 2 single beds and a sofa bed in lounge for additional two people and a bathroom that has a water heater and a shower. Traditional wood burning sauna and a dressing room can be accessed via a separate entrance from an outdoor terrace. There is running water in the cabin for cooking and washing, but drinking water will be provided separately free of charge. Outdoors you will find a lovely private beach, rowing boat (motor engine available for a small fee), picnic area with a table by the lake, basic fishing equipment, private pier, barbecue grill and plenty of firewood.
This peaceful, lakeside forest setting offers
opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming,
walking, fishing, boating, horseback riding (10 km), bird
watching, berry picking, fly fishing for salmon in nearby
Karvio river rapids, canoeing,
evenings by the fire or just peaceful reading and relaxing. In the
winter you may also enjoy ice fishing, ice swimming,
cross-country skiing and snowmobile safaris
in nearby Heinävesi. Cabin

The nearest airport is located in Joensuu about 60km away, while you can also use Kuopio Airport about 100km away. There is also a railway station in Joensuu with daily connections to Helsinki. You will need a hire car to reach the cabin from either airport or the railway station. The cabin has a secluded location and there is just one neighbour about 100m away. The lake shore in front of the cabin is ideal for swimming and the surrounds are ideal for relaxing, barbecuing and enjoying short walks in the forest. Kolovesi National Park 40km away is a 23km² area of lakes, woods and rock walls reaching as high as 40m. The park was formed during the last ice age and you can still spot signs of life from the stone ages. The park today is inhabited by endangered Saimaa seals, trekkers and canoeists. Valamo Monastery about 25km away is the centre of Orthodox religion and worship in Finland and a visit there offers you a rare insight into the daily life of the resident monks. A restaurant and pleasant lake cruises are also available. Joensuu 67km away is well worth a visit for shopping, restaurants, street cafes, lively summer market and a delightful harbour area by the river where you can enjoy a drink or a lunch on Bar Boat Elina that docks in the harbour in summertime. Savonlinna with its cultural interests is located 100km away and offers an ideal day trip destination. The town's lakeside position and harbour are particularly attractive in summer when lake cruises are also available. Medieval Olavinlinna Castle in the town is positioned on a small island and you walk in along a long pier. Tours of this fascinating castle are given in different languages throughout the day. The castle is open all year apart from public holidays and 15-25 December.
