           Lap008 - Brown Bear Cabin
This secluded lakeside log cabin in Posio is surrounded by peaceful woods, where the nearest and the only neighbour will be located about 100m away. The cabin has a small kitchenette, open plan dining area and lounge, beautiful wood burning stone fireplace, double bedroom and a small mezzanine area with mattresses for two (low ceiling). A sofa bed in lounge sleeps additional two people. 

Sauna can be accessed via a lake facing terrace where you will find a table and chairs. The cabin has basic amenities and does not have running hot water or an inside toilet. Cold water from taps can be  heated in the sauna or on a wood burning iron stove in the kitchen.

The tranquil wooded area offers excellent opportunities for outdoor activities such as fishing (equipment provided), picking wild berries and mushrooms, rowing and swimming. 

In winter, try snow rock climbing or head for a hike on snowshoes that are included in the rental price. Cross-country skis and canoes can be rented for a small charge, while reindeer rides and snowmobiling can also be booked by prior  arrangement.   

Cabin amenities:
Wood burning sauna, eco WC in a separate building next door, fireplace and logs, microwave, electric oven and hobs, wood burning iron stove, TV, video recorder, radio, CD player, private pier with wooden seats, electric heating, coffee maker, rowing boat, lifejackets, hoover, toaster, iron/ironing board, fridge, car heating point and an outdoor barbecue area. 

A motor boat and a car can be hired from the cabin owner by prior arrangement.

Pets are allowed, but smoking is not. Bed linen and towels can be rented for £10 per person. Final clean in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for £36.    

Location:
The cabin is located just below the Arctic Circle, 12km from small Posio village where basic local amenities are available. The nearest airport is Kuusamo 60km away and a car pick-up can be arranged by prior arrangement. The cabin is located just 15m from a shallow lake shore, that is suitable also for children of all ages. 

For a day trip, visit the 77km² Riisitunturi National Park (38km away) known for its fantastic fell scenery and completely snow covered trees in winter. The park offers excellent opportunities for cross-country skiing and hiking as well as picking wild berries and mushrooms. Numerous birds, reindeers and bears inhabit the park and traces of them can be spotted easily.   

Another unique natural attraction in the area is Korouoma Canyon (23km away), that was formed hundreds of millions of years ago when the earth split in this particular spot. The canyon is well known particularly for its pretty frozen waterfalls in winter, when cross-country skiing and snowshoe trekking are popular ways of getting around the area. Nature expeditions and rock climbing are organised year round. 

In winter, the small Kirintövaara Ski Resort 18km away has 3 fairly small ski slopes, snowmobiling tracks and a small cafe. The ski slopes are ideal particularly for beginners and children of all ages.

Fly on Finnair from London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh or Dublin to Kuusamo (60km from cabin) via Helsinki. Pick up a hire car at the airport or use car transfers provided by cabin owners for an extra charge.

Fly low-cost on Blue1 from London Heathrow, Dublin, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome, Hamburg, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens, Oslo, Nice or Paris to Rovaniemi (135km) via Helsinki. Pick up a hire car at the airport or use car transfers provided by cabin owners for an extra charge.
