GUEST REVIEW

"We had a fabulous visit to Finland. We were very happy with the standard of the cabin. It was warm and we had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed the log fire and the sauna. I found your website excellent, really 1st rate, with a very good choice of cabins to choose from. It was a great trip. Thank you for offering such a great service - we have certainly recommended your site to everyone we know."

______________

"The cabin was great. We enjoyed the fireplace and having squirrels buzzing right outside which was fantastic for the children. The people at the resort were really helpful and friendly. Finland is really a bewitching country and we have to come back. Be assured that I will contact you when it comes to our next booking."

           Lap039-041 - Arctic Cabins
Arctic Cabins are located by the beautiful Ounastunturi Fell in the very far north of Lapland and are ideal for couples. The cabins have an open plan kitchen and dining area, wood burning stone fireplace, private sauna and shower room, outdoor terrace, balcony, a mezzanine upstairs (partly low ceiling) with beds for three (one single bed and two beds on mattresses on the floor). There are two further beds on sofas downstairs.

The cabins are located in peaceful and naturally beautiful surrounds in a group of 13 comfortable holiday cabins bordered by a lake and a river. All local amenities are within a short walking distance in charming and genuine Hetta village.

Cross-country skiing is popular in the area and skis and snowshoes can be hired locally. Kick sledges and toboggans are available free of charge.

In summer, relax on a lovely sandy beach, go rowing, explore the area on free bicycles or enjoy walks in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park on the southern side of Hetta village. Fishing trips and canoeing expeditions are also available and fishing permits can be bought from the cabin owners.

Cabin amenities:
Electric sauna, shower and changing rooms, WC, open stone fireplace and logs, microwave, electric oven and hobs, TV, radio/CD player, electric central and under floor heating, dishwasher, coffee maker, terrace, hoover, toaster (if required), fridge/freezer, drying cupboard for wet ski suits, car heating point and a shared barbeque area in the village. A baby bed and high chair will be available by prior booking.

There is a free WLAN internet connection in the cabin, if you wish to bring your own laptop with you.

Pets are allowed for an extra charge, but smoking is not. Bed linen and towels can be hired for €10 per person. Final clean in the cabin is included in the rental price.

Location:
The cabins are located far north in the small village of Hetta, 300km above the Arctic Circle. The nearest airport is Enontekiö 8km away, while the larger Kittilä Airport is located 140km away. The cabins are situated within a walking distance from the village amenities,  100m from a lake and 40m from their nearest neighbour.

In winter, visit the village Snow Castle where you can wander in different rooms made of snow and admire beautiful sculptures made of ice. The Castle also has a cafe where you can enjoy hot drinks and snacks during your visit.

For the cleanest air in Europe, visit the 1020km² Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, where you will enjoy fantastic views of 800m high fells continuing for 50km. The park consists of dense woods and swamps and hiking trails and cross-country skiing tracks are available. Reindeers, moose and many different types of birds can be spotted in the park, although you are unlikely to meet any resident bears. In summer, a boat taxi operates between the cabin village and the park.

Visit Lapland Fells Nature Centre in Hetta and find out about Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park and other nature areas around the village.

For more spectacular scenery, head towards Kilpisjärvi, a village with just 100 inhabitants, 180km northeast from Hetta. This is where the highest fells of Finland rise to well over 1000m.

Drive along the highest road in Finland, 569m above the sea level, and see the Pihtsus Waterfall, the highest of its kind in Lapland. Find the spot where Finland, Sweden and Norway meet and visit Kautokeino, a small village where the aboriginal Sami culture is still strongly present, in Norway across the northern border.

Hetta Ski Resort has 5 small ski slopes for adults and 1 small ski slope for children. Both are ideal for beginners. The resort also has 2 ski lifts, a street for snowboarding, tobogganing hills, 100km of cross-country ski tracks, a good network of snowshoe trails, ski hire shop, ski school and a cafe.

How do I get there?
