Chalet The apartment has a cosy feel and good basic amenities for a comfortable stay. The apartment has an excellent location in a peaceful position, yet only 0.8km from the nearest ski slopes. Cross-country skiing and snowmobiling tracks are also available just 0.5km away. The nearest supermarket is located just 800m away, while the lively Ruka village can be easily reached on a SkiBus that operates between the apartments and the village Nov-May (10am till late). The SkiBus is free for all ski pass holders during the ski lift opening hours and costs about €2 at all other times. Apartment

during peak periods. Ruka has 28 ski slopes for downhill skiing, 3 half pipes and 2 streets for snowboarding, 18 ski lifts54ewzx, a slope for moguls, 200km of cross-country skiing tracks, a ski school and two ski hire shops. The Ruka village has 20 restaurants, bars and cafes, two supermarkets, a number of shops, taxi station, chemist, post office, children's playground and a kindergarten for 2-7 year olds. Babysitting is also available. In winter, snowmobiling, reindeer and husky safaris are available, while canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and river rafting are popular activities in summer. Mountain bikes can be hired in the Ruka village and golf can be played year round under the Midnight Sun in summer and on snow in winter! Kuusamo town 25km away has a variety of shops and restaurants and there is a very interesting Nature Photography Centre at Karhuntassu (Bear's Paw) Tourist and Nature Centre, that stages permanent and temporary exhibitions centred around nature and wildlife in the Kuusamo area. Kuusamo Tropics Spa is also a popular attraction with its swimming pools, jacuzzis and saunas. If you like wild nature, do not miss Oulanka National Park just 30km away. This park consists of wild river rapids such as the beautiful Kiutaköngäs that drops almost 14 meters, dense woods and low ravines that offer a varied hike for those wanting to attempt the famous 80km long trail called 'Karhunkierros' (The Bear's Trail). Fly low-cost on Blue1 from London Heathrow, Dublin, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome, Hamburg, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens, Oslo, Nice or Paris to Rovaniemi (215km) via Helsinki.
