GUEST REVIEW

"We loved it. So, so tranquil. The cabin was compact but had everything we needed. The pier was a perfect place to spend the day reading and sunbathing and the evening watching the sunset. The lake was still and clean. There were two saunas, three bbq's, a rowing boat and complete silence, what more could you want? It was the most peaceful relaxing place I have ever been to."

       Wes007 - Boatman's Cottage
This traditional timber cabin has
an open plan kitchen/dining room and sitting area that has a wood burning fireplace, two bedrooms, sauna and shower. The cabin grounds include a private pier and there is a terrace facing the lake.

A summer lakeside sauna with a wood burning stove has been recently added with a dressing room and a terrace.

The peaceful location of the cabin is ideal for resting, enjoying leisurely walks in the woods, swimming and rowing a boat in summer. The lake offers plenty of fish, while the woodland grows wild berries and mushrooms. Fishing rods, ice-fishing equipment, snowshoes, cross-country skis, bicycles and toboggans are available free of charge from the owners. A snowmobile or a motor boat can be hired for an extra charge.

Cabin amenities:
Electric sauna and summer wood burning sauna, shower, WC, washing machine, fireplace and logs, microwave, electric oven and hobs, TV, DVD player, radio/CD player, private pier, garden swing, electric heating, dishwasher, coffee maker, rowing boat, terrace with a table and chairs, vacuum cleaner, toaster, fridge/freezer, car heating point and a mini barbeque.

Pets are allowed, but smoking is not. Bed linen and towels can be hired for €15 per person. Final clean in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for €70.

Location:
The cabin is located in Kannonkoski, 80km from Jyväskylä Airport and 26km from the small town of Saarijärvi. All local amenities are available just a short drive away. The shallow lake shore is located just 10m from the cabin and is suitable for swimming for all ages. The nearest neighbour is located 50m away.

There is a swimming pool, an indoor ice rink for ice skating, a bowling hall, tennis courts and a beautiful sandy beach about 16km away.

Children of all ages will love "Veijari" (Little Rascal) Activity Park in Saarijärvi. The park has bouncy castles, games, swings, water floats, cute animals to cuddle and lots more. The park is open daily in summer from 4.6-14.8.

Another attraction ideal for the whole family is Ähtäri Zoo, 100km away, where you have a chance to see over 300 animals native to the Nordic region. Expect to catch a glimpse of a lynx, wolverine, moose, wolf and the brown bear couple Santeri and Santra. The Zoo is open daily year round.

The Pyhä-Häkki National Park about 30km away has ancient trees and untouched forests, as well as many rare birds, insects and plants. Enjoy a leisurely hike along the clearly marked nature trails for fresh air and beautiful scenery.

Julmat Lammit Conservation Park is also worth a visit for its fantastically rugged terrain, dark forests and deep ridges, that are pierced by beautiful clear lakes. Both parks are located near Saarijärvi town, that also has a few good canoeing trails, if you wish to take to the water.

Jyväskylä 95km away offers an ideal day trip destination with its department stores, restaurants, cafes and a pretty harbour, from where you can take a cruise on Lake Päijänne, the longest and the deepest lake in Finland. If you are interested in architecture, look out for the work designed by Alvar Aalto, the famous Finnish architect and a former resident in the town.

The nearest ski resort is Paavonrinteet 30km away. This small resort has toboggan hills for children, 5 ski slopes for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing tracks and a halfpipe for snowboarders. All ski equipment can be rented from the resort's own rental shop, while a cafe serves hot drinks and snacks. The resort is suitable for beginners and families.
