         Wes011 - Meadows Cottage
This traditional country cottage for up to 12 people has been lovingly decorated in a homely style. The cotta
ge is ideal particularly for two families sharing as there are separate kitchens and showers for each family.

There is an open plan kitchen and dining area with a wood burning fireplace, sitting area, one twin/double bedroom and a shower room downstairs and a second kitchen, sitting area, three twin/double bedrooms and a second shower room upstairs. Four extra beds are also available if required.

The cabin grounds include a table and chairs, barbecue area and a former barn, that has been converted into a children's play area/Wendy house. The cabin is surrounded by fields and peaceful countryside, while the nearby farm has friendly sheep, that can be visited and fed from Midsummer to the beginning of August.

A private pier by the lake 300m away is ideal for relaxing, reading a good book or just admiring the beautiful lake views. Horse-riding is available in the stables 15km away.

Cabin amenities:
2 showers, 2 WCs, washing machine, fireplace and logs, electric oven and hobs, TV, radio, pretty pier with wooden seats on both sides, electric heating, dishwasher, coffee maker, rowing boat, cot, hoover, toaster, iron/ironing board, fridge/freezer, car heating point and a child safety gate in stairs.

The cabin also includes a wood burning lakeside sauna, that is located just a few metres from the lake shore. Next to the sauna you will find a former boat hut, that has been converted into a cosy large sitting area for relaxing and enjoying a few cold drinks after sauna.

Pets are allowed, but smoking is not. Bed linen and towels can be hired for €10 per person. Final clean in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for €150.

Location:
The cabin is located in Kalmari, 65km from Jyväskylä Airport and 22km from the small town of Saarijärvi. A food shop and a bank are located within a few kilometres, while other amenities are also just a short drive away. The lake shore is about 300m from the cottage, while the nearest neighbour is another cabin about 40m away.

Children of all ages will love Veijari Activity Park in nearby Saarijärvi. The park has bouncy castles, games, swings, water floats, cute animals to cuddle and lots more. The park is open daily in summer from early June to mid August.

Pyhä-Häkki National Park has ancient trees and untouched forests, as well as many rare birds, insects and plants. Enjoy a leisurely hike along the clearly marked nature trails for fresh air and beautiful scenery.

Julmat Lammit Conservation Park is also worth a visit for its fantastically rugged terrain, dark forests and deep ridges, that are pierced by beautiful clear lakes. Both parks are located near Saarijärvi town, that also has a few good canoeing trails, if you wish to take to the water.

Jyväskylä 65km away offers an ideal day trip destination with its department stores, restaurants, cafes and a pretty harbour, from where you can take a cruise on Lake Päijänne, the longest and the deepest lake in Finland. If you are interested in architecture, look out for the work designed by Alvar Aalto, the famous Finnish architect and a former resident in the town.

The nearest ski resort is Paavonrinteet 24km away. This small resort has toboggan hills for children, 5 ski slopes for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing tracks and a halfpipe for snowboarders. All ski equipment can be rented from the resort's own rental shop, while a cafe serves hot drinks and snacks. The resort is suitable for beginners and families.

Visit Ähtäri Zoo 94km away and see over 300 animals native to the Nordic region. Expect to catch a glimpse of a lynx, wolverine, moose, wolf and the brown bear couple Santeri and Santra. The Zoo is open daily year round.
