        Wes049 - Island Hideaway
Island Hideaway is a beautiful log cabin located literally on an island, although there is a driveway all the way to the cabin across a small bridge. Open lake views can be admired from the cabin that has an open plan kitchen, dining and sitting area with a wood burning fireplace, sauna, shower room and a double bedroom downstairs. Three single beds and a balcony are available upstairs, while two sofa beds offer four additional beds if required. 

There is an outdoor terrace and a barbecue hut on the grounds, while the private lake shore has a wooden pier and a charming wood burning lakeside sauna.  

The tranquil countryside surrounds offer plenty of opportunities for enjoying the nature and wildlife in the area. Fishing is popular and fishing equipment are included in the rental price. 

Breakfast basket service allows you to order breakfast items delivered to your cabin for a small charge. One basket may contain home baked bread, vegetables, boiled eggs, porridge, yogurt, cereal, home made cheese and berry or chocolate pie according to season and availability. Please pre-book!

Cabin amenities:
Wood burning sauna, shower, WC, fireplace and logs, microwave,  electric oven and hobs, TV, video recorder, radio/CD player, private pier, electric heating, coffee maker, rowing boat, terrace, balcony, hoover, toaster, fridge/freezer, baby bed, car heating point and a child safety gate in stairs. 

Pets and smoking are not allowed. Bed linen and towels can be rented for £10 per person. Final cleaning in the cabin can be arranged on your behalf for £32.  

Location:
The cabin is located in Purmojärvi, 13km from the small village of Kortesjärvi, where you will find basic amenities such as a food shop, petrol station and a bank. Kauhava town 25km away offers a wider range of amenities. The nearest airport is Seinäjoki 85km away. 

The cabin is located 30m from a shallow lake shore that is ideal for swimming for all ages, while the nearest neighbour is another cabin (rarely occupied) about 20m away. The cabin owners themselves live in the farm 300m away should you need any assistance during your stay.   

The nearby stables about 7km away can be visited by prior arrangement and guided horse-riding is available for a small charge. The owners are happy to arrange transportation to the stables and back for a nominal fee.

For a day trip, visit the western coastline and its 7 Bridges Archipelago. The Archipelago covers the area of Kokkola, Pietarsaari, Luoto, Pedersöre, Kruunupyy and Uusikaarlepyy, all that have their own character and identity. Drive around the area along the many bridges and stop by the charming small museums depicting the history of the area or just admire the beautiful scenery of the sea and the pretty coastline.   

Children will love a day trip to the PowerPark in Alahärmä 40km away. The park offers a number of different types of fun fair rides as well as indoor and outdoor karting circuits. Restaurants and cafes are also available.

The nearest ski resort is Simpsiö, 45km away. The resort has cross-country skiing tracks, 6 ski slopes and ski lifts, a halfpipe for snowboarders and tobogganing hills for children. You can rent all ski equipment from the resort and you can even attend a ski school, if you are a beginner. The resort has two cafes, that serve hot drinks and snacks.    

How do I get there?
Fly on Finnair from London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh or Dublin to Seinäjoki (85km from cabin) via Helsinki. Pick up a hire car at the airport.

Fly low-cost on Blue1 from London Heathrow, Rome, Dublin, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Berlin,  Hamburg, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens, Oslo, Nice or Paris to Vaasa (100km) via Helsinki. Pick up a hire car at the airport.

Fly low-cost on Ryanair from London Stansted, Dublin or Frankfurt to Tampere (240km). Pick up a hire car at the airport.

By train, there is a direct connection from Tampere to Kauhava (25km). Take a taxi to the cabin from the station.
